Robert Covington from Tennessee State has won StatSheet's Ohio Valley Player of the Week for March 4th. Also, Eastern Kentucky's Marcus Lewis takes home StatSheet's Ohio Valley 6th Man of the Week.
Covington led the Ohio Valley in rebounding (12.0 per game). He also had big numbers in shooting (50%), scoring (18 pts per game), and steals (3 per game). The Tennessee State senior played well in a victory versus Eastern Kentucky and a loss to Morehead State.
Covington topped all rebounding for the Tigers with 8 while also adding 4 steals in a 101-100 loss to Morehead State. He followed that up with 13 points and 16 rebounds in a narrow 85-81 win against Eastern Kentucky.
Robert Covington has been named StatSheet Ohio Valley Player of the Week one other time this season. The runner-up this week is Tennessee State senior Kellen Thornton. Honorable mention goes to Blake Jenkins, a junior from Belmont.
StatSheet Ohio Valley 6th Man of the Week: Eastern Kentucky's Marcus Lewis
Junior Marcus Lewis, a 6-4 guard, played an average of 29 minutes over two games for the Colonels. In a 69-54 win over Tennessee Tech, Lewis put up 10 points on 83% shooting. During an 85-81 loss to Tennessee State, he racked up 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
Marcus Lewis has won the StatSheet Ohio Valley 6th Man of the Week a total of 3 times. Brandon Baker, a senior forward from Belmont, is runner up. Our own Chris Freeman receives honorable mention. Austin Peay has yet to win StatSheet Ohio Valley Player of the Week.
